2nd Prize in The National Writing Competition

got a phone call a couple of days ago telling me that 'trying to find the words' - the story that gives this blog its name - has won joint second prize in the National Writing Competition, run out of the north east with pat barker and david almond as patrons.

i share the £200 prize, and the story will be published.

a very nice way to round off the month.
